entice the casual and serious reader to visit and experience other museum
exhibits. The narrative, intertwined with oral history, anthropological data, pri-
mary resources, and assistance from Native American consultants, advisors, and
artisans, leads to a rich and beautifully woven story capable of captivating both
the academic and nonacademic, musuem officials and aficionados. Including a
map at the beginning of each chapter to which the reader could refer would be
helpful. Readers will quickly forget the two maps at the beginning of the book
once the first color images of Navajo squash blossom necklaces and Yaqui pahko-
la masks appear. Nevertheless, this book resulted from a monumental task of
attempting to represent the museum's holdings in a more comprehensive man-
ner for a broader audience, providing a richer understanding of the exhibits at
the Arizona State Museum. For this, the editors are to be commended.
