The officers were assigned to three companies called cohorts. Lauret
was placed in the second and was listed as "Laurette" in a roster that
was published in both the Parisian daily Le Constitutionnel (June 23,
1819) and in a book by Hartmann and Jean-Baptiste-Auguste Millard,
Le Texas; ou, Notice historique sur le Champ d'Asile (1819). The
cohort was commanded by the cavalry officer Jean-Philibert (called
Jacques) Charrassin, the emissary sent to Mexico by Henri Lallemand
for the purpose of reaching an agreement with the insurgent congress.7
Also appearing on the roster of the second cohort are Hartmann
and Millard, the authors of the book in which the list was published.
