of the soUthwest'. All: upstairs rooms,

- Students of. H-SU gathered for
heir annuall fall homecoming on Sat-
urday, October 124th, 'in an atmos-'
phere of solemnity:. Nine Hardin-
Simmois boys who have given their
lives .for their country ,were 'honored
in a special chapel : service. The pro-
gramm was -the highlight' of the day's.:
ati~ities. Sevef i of the parents. of
the- b'bys - . were 'present to hear'; Dr.
R.- N.- Richardson, '11, outstanding:

memorial address. Our nine gold star.

During the reading of the roll call
.of honor, thie old school bell was tolled
and the service :was' 'concluded with
-the playing of taps. The university's
service flag with its hundreds of stars
made 'a striking background for the..
exercises.
Fromtwo until six in the afternoon,
the- Abilene Ex'.-Sudents Club held: .
open house in Mary Franees Hall.
Other events oi. the days program
were the Texas Mines - H-SU game,
which the Cowboys won easily. ahnd
dinners were held by the 'Cowgirls
and the Lettermen's Association.
O fficials of the Association - were
well pleased with the number pf out-
of-town exes who camein for the day,
but the attendaheeE was light, due to
the national. emergeiicy and to tire
rationing.? We are all looking forward
to 'bettersl-days ..as soon as 'the axis
has been crushed. In the meantime,
