Another Southern delegation culled
upon Gen. Harrison to-day. It con-
sisted of C. C. Austin mayor nnd It.
W. Austin city attorney of Decatur
Ala.; Andrew C. Frey. mayor and
F. Hummel member of the board of
alderman of New Decatur. They
came to talk over the New South
with the general and present him a
memorial from the officials of the
two fast growing cities. They repre-
sented that the two places had In-
creased over 800 per cent. In the last
two years. They had a very free and
pleasant conversation with the gen
eral he talking muoh more than Is
usual with him. He Impressod on
them that a great part of the work of
bringing a better order of things about
In the South depended upon the peo-
ple there and that he would try as
far as possible to give them such ad-
ministration as would kelp to build
up the material wealth of the coun-
try and would ondeavor to put ouly

but they must do something; that It
was with them to organize among
the granger class a party of true ad-
vancement on the basis of protection
to American Industries. They did
not say anything on the cabinet ques-
tion to the general but on the outside
said their people were in favor of
Mahone as the representative of the
South.

Kalasinskl whose removal from the
Polish church hero three years ago
resulted in several riots yesterday
administered first communion to
large number of children of his adher
ents In a chapel whloh had been fixed
up In his houso.
His friends say they do not care for
the bishop and will build a church
and Install Kala&lnskl. They claim
to be 2000 strong. "I shall not ox

himself as effectively as I could do it.

fessing and doing penance. He com-

rooelved the communion knowing

sane. His mind has been rapidly fail-
ing for two weeks past. His condi

Detroit Mich. Jan. 26. A special
to'tho Journal says: A ghastly mur
der was committed last night. Mrs.
MaryH. Latemer a widow living
with her son II. Irving Latemer a
druggist was ahot twloe in the head
and after returning. After the first
shot she evidently c-awlod out of bed
and staggered to a window but be-
fore she could raise the window she
was ahot again and fell baok dead.
She was found this morning lying in
a pool of blood. Irving Latemer went
to Detrlot last evening stating to' bis
clerk that he was going to act as pall
bearer for a deceased friend no mes
sage had reached him un to 12 m. and
his friends do not know where he is.
There Is as yet no clue to the murder-
er. The Seek Island
Wichita Falls Jau. 20. The
Wlohlta Herald reoelved on yesterday
the very latest official rlalroad map
of the great Book Island railroad sys-
tem that has been issued by the
Rook Island company. It bears the
date 1880 and was sent direotly to tho
Herald from headquarters In Topeka
by one of the Rook Island officials
and has the name of the official send
ing it with bis compliments to the
paper written outhe margin. The map
howa the road located to Wlohlta
Falls and proleoted to Cisco. The
towns of Vemon Harrold Archer
Graham and Cisco appear on the map
but Henrietta does not.
