Advertising the Concho Country.
Attention was called in our last
issue to the benelits accruing from
the extensive advertising done by
the Carnival management through
the medium of the gentlemen
who were sent out to bid strangers
wolcotno to San Angelo. The
Press know then that this adver-
tising would bo on tin extensive
Hculu but had no idea that it
would be as thoroughly done us it
lias. Austin Sponcor wont to
Galveston and Houston and other
Santa Fe points in South Texas
and everywhere ho went ho was
well received. At Houston both
of the tluilv papers "noticed" him
in write-ups of several sticks each
and tho Galveston News gave him
11 much longer notice Thus it is
that Sun Angelo grows The
business men are beginning to
realize the great advertising the
carnival is giving San Angelo.

Admiral George Dewey has gone
to the very highest point possible
to attain in the American navy
and many think this high posi-
tion has been reached since lie
achieved his brilliant victory in

A Democratic Club Needed.
On two or more occusions the
Press has found a reason for ad-
vocating tho organization of a
Dontocrtic Club. On ouch of
those occasions the Press has
spoken its sentiments and is
about to see the organization
perfected.
A number of the democrats vf
San Angelo have spoken of this
suggestion and all of them re-
gard it favorably They agree
with the Press that a Democratic
01 n 1 is nooded. Such an organi-
sation could help poll tile full
voting strength in tho coming
general election. This should be
its ptirpooo
Some people ask why thiB is
nociJssary. The reasons are those.
Tho primaries have already been
hold. No other party except the
Democrats have a ticket. There-
fore the Democratic nominees are
practically elected to the dilVor-
ont olllces for tho coining two
yours.
Tout Green coiiu'y has two
votes in the District Uougres-.ion-al
and State Conventions. If the
Democrats of Tom Gro.ui county
knowing their candidates to bo
already elected us it wero remain
away from the polls on election
day Tom Green county stands a
good chance to lose one of its
votes in convention. Holding
Democratic primaries in 11 coun-
ty ovorwholniingly Democratic
is one reason for the necessity of
action now. If the election whb
u closo one. soino other ptuty
having 0 full county ticket in tho
Hold such an organization would
bo unnecessary because the can-
didates and thoir friends would
see .that tho votes wore polled.
But all of this is done away with
now that tho Democrats have al-
ready made their nominations.
No necessity for hard work on the
part of tho various candidates ex-
ists. It is then up to the demo-
crats of Tom GiMon county to
perfect such an organization for
work to tho end above outlined.
A call will bo issued for a moot-
ing doubtless at an early date.
When such is done ovory Demo-
crat iu Tom Green county ought
to come to the front and put his
'I lie Achievement of Success.
Tho days when jacks-of-till-trades
nourished like the green
buy tree have passed and peace
to them. These stroniwu- t iiiu'i
of every niun to his own job ate
more successful. If a man knows
how to do one thing well he ought
to do that thing foregoing the
mixing of other trades with his
avocation albeit the mixture oh
tinned is for the time heiug pleas-
ant it can never h profitable.
Take the large factory the
niiUs the foundry the workshop
wherever found and in whatever
department of industry and the
rule applies. Tho department
store is a growth of this idea
with its individual efforts all
working to the same end and for
the Biimo course. The railroad
with its many depart nients is
another application of this indus-
1 1 nil rule.
The young woman who niako a
utudy of corsets and isau expert at
littiiigthem is tho young woman
who makes good money at hor
chosen vocation. But the girl
who sells spool thread and men's
socks here there and everywhere
in a stoic will nov) r rise to the
place where she can command the
"modistes" salary. The igood
boiler maker studies his trade and
lets tho brakotnan do the same.
lie is interested in his work be-
comes proficient therein and
does not aspire to try his hand at
something else.
So it is with tho successful in
ovory avenue of human effort in
every department of the world's
busy trallic and commerce. Would
you aspire to the high salary of
some distinct trade or profession
choose that which is best suited
to your talents and temperament
perfect yourself in all its arts and
look alone to the one goal that of
n successful culmination of your
life's work.
Tho man who sets typo in a
nowspupor ollico bouiotinios po-
sosses tho ability to conduct the
affairs of tho ollico. The man
who is the humble salosmun in a
dry goods store may become a
manager or proprietor at some
futuro period. The man who
