A writer in the Dallas News
gives the lollowing methods for
killing Johnson grass which he
says has been found very effective:
I saw an experiment some ten
years agorwhich proved success-
ful. It was this: First cut the
grass as closely as possible to the
surface of tne ground and cure
enough go that it will burn. After it
has been burnt begin to turn the sod
over. "Plow deep the deeper the
hotter. By this turning over the
roots are exposed to the hot sum-
mer's sun which soon dries them
out. Any time from 1st of July to
1st or 15th of September will do
to plow the ground. If you wish
to save the hay cut before the
seeds are ripe If you don't want
the" hay burn it as that will be an
advantage in killing the top part
of the roots. The year after the
experiment and on the same land
1 saw some as fine cotton growing
as I over saw and not a sprig of
the grass to be seen.
