Uellevue July 5:-The fuiirth of
July was celebrated at this place1 with
a basket picnic. A suitable arbor was
arranged in a beautiful little grove
and at nine o'clock the crowds began
coming in from every direction. At
hull' past ten about seven hundred per-
sons were assembled on thu picnic
"rounds. JSIr. London marshal of the
day called ihein lo order and an able
add res j was delivered by our repre-
sentative Mr. Bwan of Henrietta.
The tables arianged for the occasion
were then laden with choice eatables
which were soon disposed of. Croquet
buggy riding and conversation fol-
lowed until about 2:30 p. m. Tlio
young people then retired to a large
building procured for the purpose of
dancing and a gay time was the result.
The excursion train arrived at liclle-
vtieat seven o'clock a. m. bringing
the Uransteter band from Henrietta
which gave us good mu?ic diiiing the
day. It was certainly the most en-
joyable atlair ever wit essedin Clay
county.
There were showers of rain several
times during theday but it only cooled
the air and settled the dim. Good
order was observed throughout the
entire day.
