The San Antonio Times says: “Gal- to resist the payment of taxes, it is a mat-

It is a matter of such importance to the
city that no honest and conscientious
journal could allow it to pass merely as
a news item. If the News had done its
duty to this people, it would have either
justified or condemed such an or-
ganization. The bare publication of
such an item, as news, was
only calculated to create alarm.
The News knew that the mayoralty
muddle was settled; the News
knew that there was no occasion for such
au organization; the News knew that if
such an organization existed that it was
inimical to the welfare of Galveston, and
it could, if it had esteemed the good of
Galveston above its personal and parti-
prejudices, have exposed the
true inwardness of this scheme, and
have set its condemnation upon it. But
no, it answered the News’ purposes best
to alarm the public, to provoke conten-
tion, to bring us into discredit abroad.
There was a bare foundation for what the
News said about this organization, but
The North Texas press is of opinion
that the main News office should be
moved to Dallas, leaving Galveston only
a business office and correspondent. We
have been thinking about renting the
News building, but fear it would not be
large enough to accommodate Evening
Tribune’s interests after a few months.
If the News cannot make a point-
cannot win a trick—in the political game
on the island, how can it be expected to
have any influence throughout the State?
The Dallas branch may prove a power
for awhile, hut we wish to do the pro-
prietors the kindness to state that North
Texas is full of sharp, smart and success-
ful politicians and people.

To Dyspeptics.
The most common signs of Dyspepsia, or
Indigestion, are an oppression at the
stomach, nausea, flatulency, water-brash,
heart-burn, vomiting, loss of appetite, and
constipation. Dyspeptic patients suffer un-
told miseries, bodily and mental. They
should stimulate the digestion, and secure
regular daily action of the bowels, by the
use of moderate doses of
Ayer’s Pills.
After the bowels are regulated, one of these
Pills, taken each day after dinner, is usually
all that is required to complete the cure.
Ayer’s Pills are sugar-coated and purely
vegetable—a pleasant, entirely safe, and re-
liable medicine for the cure of all disorders
of the stomach and bowels. They aro

Sixteen Pages Every Saturday.
Oftentimes Twenty pages. Sometimes Twenty-

FIVE DOLLARS A YEAR.
The foremost purpose of Bradstreet’s is to be of
practical service to business men. Its special
trade and industrial reports; its weekly epitome
of bankruptcies throughout the United States
and Canada, and the summaries of assets and
liabilities, are alone worth the subscription price;
its synopsis of recent legal decisions are exceed-
ingly valuable. As commercial transactions, in
the wider sense, are coining to be more and more
conducted on a statistical basis, the information
contained in Bradstreet’s is of the first impor-
tance both to producers and middlemen.
The trade and agricultural situation throughout
the United States and Canada is reported
by telegraph to Bradstreet’s up to
the hour of publication.
