Engagement
On February 17, we in Klondike
lost another very special man, Estil
Robnett. Now those or you who knew
him knows that he always woke up and
went to bed at night with his faith in
God never changing. 1 first met him
when Jim and 1 took our new daughter
out to see him and Aunt Jessie. That
was 35 Zi years ago. His faith in God
was so strong back then and it never
changed. He also loved children and
had lots of patience with them. In fact
he loved everyone. He loved to have
company come to his house and sit and
visit. He could sit and talk about the
Lord for hours if you wanted to. He
never got tired of talking about God
and the bible. Uncle Estil is going to
be sorely missed.
Last week on 3/16 we lost another
special person, Maurine Ellis. She
was in all our hearts also. 1 enjoyed
talking to her every Sunday to get her
news. She didn’t always have news
to put in but we would talk for a while.
She was also very strong in her faith
in God also. If she wasn’t in church,
then you knew she was feeling pretty
bad.
I remember when she and her
husband, Thurman would make those
big gardens by the old railroad track
section of land. I was always a
beautiful garden. Thurman used to tell
me I could get all the peas I wanted,
just had to pick them myself. I picked
and canned a lot of peas out of that
garden. He passed away 10 years to
the day before Maurine. It won't seem
the same with the Ellis, Robnett and
McKim house empty. I did hear that
Mac McKim’s daughter and her
husband. Dean and Sheila Nance
would be moving into the McKim
home.
Gracie Price spent Sunday night
with Jim and Trisha. On Monday,
Trisha took her to Greenville to catch
the Eye Care bus to go to Dallas for
an appointment to have her eyes
examined. For those of you who don't
know, Gracie is nearly totally blind.
It is really frustrating for her to see
for all those years and now not be able
to read or see her own face in the
mirror.
Visitors in the home of Phillip and
Allie Stone were Roger and Lynn
Stone of Paris, Glen and Louise Stone,
Beth and Grace of Cooper, and Sharon
and Larry Jordan.
Allie visited Bob and Boyd
Hoskison, Margie Elmer, Faye Huff
and Verna Mitchell in Cooper during
the week and weekend.
Phillip visited Wanda Goets in
Yowell during the week.
I talked to Kim Helms on Sunday
to get an update on Charles Clark.
She told me her dad is still in stable
condition. Martha is staying in the
hospital to be with him and everyone
knows staying IICU waiting rooms
is not the most comfortable place to
try to sleep or rest. So please
remember Charles and Martha in
your prayers.
Danny and Ellen Hooten visited
OletaHooten during the week. They
all attended the funeral of Maurine
Ellis.
Cecil and Georgie Mae Ferrell of
Mesquite visited Oleta during the
weekend. Other weekend visitors
were Mary Wicks and Betty George
and son, Travis.
Weekend visitors of Stella Martin
were J.M. and Lee Arrington. They
and Stella enjoyed Sunday lunch
with Bertha Jones in Cooper.
John Davis visited Stella on
Sunday.
Weekly visitors in the home of
Stella Martin were Anna Martin and
her grandchildren, Dillon Martin of
Royce City, Dionna and Tatianna
Ulgalde, and Breonna Davis.
Stella Martin, Flora Isbell, and
Bertha Jones made a trip to
Greenville to just do some
sightseeing on Saturday.
J .R. and Dorothy Dickey of Dallas
visited Ruth Little during the week.
Nelda Winnie and Kristy Basham
visited Ruth Little on Saturday.

Can anyone be successful at losing
weight? Researchers at the
University of Colorado and
University of Pittsburgh believe there
is such a thing as a successful loser.
These researchers looked at a group
of 629 women who were successful
at losing 30 pounds or more and
keeping it off for an average of 5.5
years. Their results make up a
database known as the National
Weight Control Registry
So what are the keys to successful
weight loss and maintenance
according to these women? These
women credit their success to the
following strategies:
♦Cutting calories and/or fat grams;
♦Decreasing portion sizes;
♦Eliminating certain “pig out”
foods; and
♦Increasing physical activity.
Although none of these strategies
may come as a surprise, some of their
approaches may surprise you.
Women in the National Weight
Control Registry:
♦Did not skip meals;
♦Ate an average of 5 times a day
(including snacks);
♦Consumed about 1,300 calories
a day on average;
♦Limited eating out to no more
than 3 times a week;
♦Limited eating fast food to only
1 of the 3 times per week;
♦Used up about 2,700 calories
exercising per week (usually doing
two different types of exercise);
♦Monitored their weight closely
(usually weighing weekly)
