Friday afternoon about 1:30 one
of the community’s most remark-
able characters was feted on her
8(ith birthday.
and presented her with an afghan
crochet kit. Crochet is one of Mrs.
Bennett’s favorite hobbies and
making afghans is one of the
things she likes best.
The honoree works with the
Pink Ladies at least one afternoon
and two evenings each week. She
has been a Pink Lady since 1973.
She does tray favors and sees to
patient comforts up and down the
halls of the hospital .whenever she
is called upon.
The auxiliary social committee
composed of Mary Lou Pedigo,
Dorothyt “Brandt and Joyce
McNew handled details for the
party. The table was laid with
Quaker lace over pale pink and
centered by a three-branch
candelabra holding white tapers
surrounded by red roses and fern.
Rusty Knight baked two cakes—
one for serving, and the other,
elaborately decorated in red and
white, for Mrs. Bennett to share
with her friends apd family at

Members of the Seminole
Junior Study Club performed one
of their annual fund raising
projects last .Saturday when they
operated the concession stand at
the Lions Club auction.
Chairman of the concession
committee was Mrs. Eddie
Boyles. She was assisted by
Mines. Bob Harlan, Terry Smith,
Randy Armstrong, Mike Hunter,
M. T. Mcllwain, Ron Minier and
Louie Birdwell. The snack
concession supplied auction at-
tendants with sandwiches, burri-
tos, soft drinks and brownies.
Proceeds from the project
traditionally are put to use for
community civic improvement
and beautification.
The February Junior Study
Club meeting will be a luncheon in
the home of Mrs. Boyles on
Tuesday, Feb. 5. The Internation-
al Affairs program requires that
each member bring a foreign food
dishjor the 12 noon meal and wear
a hat typical of that country. Each
member will also invite a guest.
Plans are for roll call to be
answered by giving a recipe for
some type foreign dish. Mrs.
Hunter is chairman for the
meeting and Mrs. Boyles will be
assisted with hostess duties by
