Aug [abbr: August] 28th 1890

Association met as per program.
Mayor Porter made the reception speech, was a regular Boquet of language from beginning to end and was listened to with marked attention by all.
Capt. [abbr: Captain] Wood's response was delivered in his usual offhand style, and was just the kind of talk that was expected of him, and was well recd. [abbr: received] by the vast crowd which was numbered such as 5000.
In the afternoon every body seemed to be happy. All kinds of enjoyment, quite a number of short speeches were made by Old Settlers amng the number were Mrs. Whiteaker, Parson Finney, D Caskey, Uncle John Haining, to the great delight of the of Old and new settlers.
At 8p.m. Allison Mayfield delivered the address as per Program, which was replete with Texas History and statistics and was delivered with ability.
Ed Dimmons Son of Dr. [abbr: Doctor] Dimmons was called upon and delivered a nice speech, which was a credit to him, and which was duly appreciated by the Old Settlers. A large Crowd was in attendance numbering 6 or 8000.
