DOG-EATING IGORROTES-
By a ruse, successfully em-
ployed, the dog-eating Igorrotes
are now on their way to
their homes in Luzon, be-
yond the reach of the habeas
corpus proceedings which Mark
Evans, manager of the Filipino
midgets, intended to bring to en
able part 6f them to remain in
America.
The ruse was an ostensible
trip to the pike.’ With some os-
tentation it was made known
Thursday by Dr. T. K. Hunt, in
charge of the Igorrotes, that he
would take all of them to see the
sights on the pike in the evening.
There was no suspicion, (there-
fore, when at 6 o'clock the sixty
nine Filipinos, with Dr. Hunt at
their head, walked out of the vil-
lage which has been their home
through the summer. All of the
Philippine guards assigned to the
village went along, for the sup-
posed purpose of protecting the
head-hunters from annoyance on
the pike, but for the real
purpose of preventing any
from escaping. Chairman A. L.
Lawshe of the Philippine exposi-
tion board stood at the village
gate and saw that none was miss-
ing.
The Igorrotes understood that
they were being taken out for a
time. It suited them as well
when they were told thab they
would be taken down town - They
were taken to Union Station and
loaded on two tourist cars of the
Burlington railroad.
There was so much secrecy
about the departure that when a
Philippine guard went to the vil-
lage fifteen minutes after they
had left the silence frightened
him and he blew his whistle lus-
tily. Philippine guards came
runningirom every direction
only to find an empty village.
All of the, baggage had been
taken away, with the exception
of one load, which was t£ken out
during the night.
It was the intention of the Ig
orrotes to remain until Wednes-
day, but the threatened couft
proceedings hastened their de-
parture.
Before the departure of the
train the Igorrotes sang "My
Country, 'Tis of Thee,” and
cheered lustily.—St. Louis Post
Dispatch.

THE CHRISTMAS DINNER.
In spite of the fact that the
word dyspepsia means literally
bad cook, it will not be fair for
many to lay the blame on the
cook if they begin the Christmas
Dinner with little appetit9 and
end it with distress or nausea.
It may not be fair for any to do
that—let us hope so for the sake
of the cook! The disease dys-
pepsia indicates a bad stomach,
that is a weak stomach, rather
than a bad cook, and for a weak
stomach there is nothing else
equal to Hoad’s Sarsaparilla. It
gives the stomach vigor and tone
cures dyspepsia, creates appe-
tite, and makes eating the pleas-
ure it should be.

* Is not only recognized in Gainesville as the
best clothing on the market but it is universally
sought by those to whom the title “Critic” has been
iuslly credited. There is no community of any
importance in this great country where the name
and prestige of Kirsehbaum clothing has not been
carried; where the label in a coat, a small thing
to Took for, a big thing to find and and a sure
guarantee of quality is not sought. During the
many years we have devoted to business it has
bee ii our one aim to have “everything the best,”
and if our long experience has taught one thing
mote thoroughly than another it is the fact that
Kirsehbaum clothing has no equal.
