Has Sight Restored
A difficultAery delicate surgi
cal operation was performed in
this city a few days ago by Dr
Prank Kent the eminent oculist
of San Antonior the subject of
the operation being B P Mit-
chell a wealthy and prominent
citizen of our place Mr Mit-
chell for a number of years has
suffered with eye trouble it
gradually growing worse until
the sight of one eye was de-
stroyed anil the other impaired
to such uu extent that total blind-
ness was staring him in tlie face
Cataract of the eye was his trou-
ble and with total blindness al-
most upon him his suffering can
bettor be imagined than de-
scribed The operation was per-
formed at the residence of Mr
Mitchell and wo are informed
was a success in every particular
the cataract removed being al-
most as largo as a silver half
dime and of sufficient magni-
tude to almost render Mr Mit-
chell blind Mr Mitchell stood
the operation finely and although
for a few days will be confined
to a darkoned room is improving
steadily and will soon be himself
again able to read his news-
paper and go about as other men
do pleasures which were denied
him for some time past Only
those who witnessed the opera-
tion can appreciate what a deli
cate undertaking it was and the
expert manner in which Dr Kent
carrid it through stamps him as
an oculist second to none in the
South Taking into considera-
tion Mr Mitchells age 77 years
the operation is all the more
wonderful Mr Mitchells many
friends more especially his fam-
ily are rejoiced at the success of
the operation Weimar Mercury
