perfected their work and issued a
call to all vv ho support the demands
of the party to meet in their res
pective towns on tho last Saturday
in March and take steps prepara-
tory to olec ing delegates to tho
national convention of the Peoples
Party to bo held at Omaha Jeb
July 4th for the purpose of nomi
nating candidates for president

Texas Bankers Asscoiation held a
two days session at Galveston last
week Thoy after thoroughly in-
vestigating tho present low prices
on cotton nud taking into consid-
eration many circumstances of the
past condition of the cotton re-
commend a deduction of at least 1 j
per cent in acreage which they be
Iieve taking the past as their guide
would increase the price at least 30
per cent over the present prices
and would so continue for several

It is urged by some against Clove
land that if lie were elected presi-
dent that ho would veto tho free
coinage bill in case congress should
pass it But in our humble opin-
ion it would not bo consistent with
democratic principles to veto nny
bill when tho people at largo de-
mand its passage and wo believe
Cleveland is made np of that kind
of democracy which will prompt
him to give to the people any bill
the people at large demand And
this free coinage bill though wo
have never been able to seo its
merits is rapidly gaining grounds
and growing in favor generally for
which reason wo believe that
Cleveland would not interfere with
it if he should be elected
Some of our papers which have
been advocating D 13 Hill for
president are becoming less voci
ferous But it is said thai New
York must nominate tho candidate
for president and indeed it do
seem that way but it is a fine spir-
it of republicanism when the whole
democratic population of United
States must cater to the whims of
New York or else bo defeated
Xow that New York under the Hill
management has behaved so un
democratic why not nominate some
men from another state and then
let New York cater to the United
States It is not probable now
that either Hill or Cleveland
could carry New York if he gets
the nomination Then get out of
New York However we still be-
lieve in Cleveland

Il is oulv ibou 17 miles from
here to the railroad and if wo
mast have a road why rot get to
work hero and build a tap road
It would cost heav lly but the road
would be worth at least half its
cost This could be done San

A live energetic Board of Trade
here could do much towards holp
iug San Saba along How would
it do to call a mass meeting and
solect a Board of Trade What is
needed bote is for some one to
take the lead and the others will
do their part No ono likes to
force himself to tho front But
when properly called upon theio
aro men hero who could perhaps
be of great service to San Saba
Wo believe in oiganizing and
dulling befoie the battle and to
fight a good battle there must be
leaders and managers and the
others must bo willing and leady
to back them in their plans
An immense strike of perhaps
430000 mines in England is expec-
ted owing to an effort of the mana-
gers to reduce wages
Berliu has had quite a liot but
things are at present quiet
There seems to be some interest
taken in the culture of castor beans

Yos sir we said it and we meanLmG
it and for the sake of the Advocate
wo Mill say that we meant a drain
composed of railroad coaches ex-
press and baggage cm pulled by a
regular locomotive steam eugiue
That s jnst what we meant but if
there is any doubt at all it is with
reference to the time the swal-
lows homeward fly that may be
this season of flying or tho next or
tho season after that but it is true
nevertheless Xow we trust you
will understand the above If yon
can not and will notify us we will
try again to reduce its simplicity to
thocopacity of jour understanding
You say you saw two or three old
buildings there once Pray toll
me how long since you were here
How old an yon now What was
the matter with you that yoa saw
only two or three old buildings
and saw them just oxce Or per-
haps you meant you weio here
onco and saw two or three old
buildings Some times people
come here and soon become so
blind as not to see any buildings
Well now would it not b a funny
thing to go to n town and find no
old buiding a town without build
ings would be a bight woith seeing
Now Bro Advocate if you have
not beeu to Sau Saba since you
saw two or three old buildings ONCE
come over and keep yiur eyes
straight and we will escort yon
over the tow n and can show yon lots
of fine buildings and many other
beauties and charms of which jou
nave not diearned The fact of the
