JEWISH ORPHANS FROM
RUSSIA COMPLETELY *
ASSIMILATED
Warsaw (JPS) — Hundreds of
completely assimilated Polish
Jewish orphans, whose parents
died in Russia, are among the
thousands of Polish Jewish re-
patriates now returning from
Russia where they fled after the
Nazi Invasion. The orphans have
forgotten Yiddish and will speak
only Russian. Some even deny
their Jewish origin and refuse to
link themselves with Jews.
Many of the repatriates report
that anti-Semitism is unknown
in Russia, but assimilation a-
mong Soviet Jews is far advanced.
WORLD CONFERENCE OF
JEWISH ORGANIZATIONS
OPENS IN LONDON
London (JPS)—Representatives
of Jewish organizations in four-
teen countries gathered here Feb-
ruary 23 for the opening session
of a seven day Conference of
Jewish Organizations, sponsored
by the American Jewish Com-
mittee and the Anglo-Jewish As-

tion” in behalf of Europe’s home-
less Jews.
The Conference program calls
for the immigration into Pales-
tine of the bulk of displaced Jews
in Germany and Austria, and
possible emigration of the re-
mainder to the United States,
South American countries and
Australia. The Conference will
suggest a written Charter of Jew-
ish rights to be incorporated in-
to the forthcoming peace treat-
ies with former enemy countries
and enforced by the United Na-
tions Security Council.

GERMANS LAUGH AT FILMS
OF DEATH CAMP HORRORS
Munich (JPS)—A horror film
titled “Death Mills,” showing the
torture and murder of Jewish and
non-Jewish inmates of German
concentration camps, drew peals
of laughter from German movie
audiences here. During scenes
showing tens of thousands of
Jewish corpses at Buchenwald
and Dachau death camps, the
Germans clapped and chanted
the Nazi Horst Wessel song,
drowning out the film commen-
tary.
