Transcontinental I41es that since No-
vember 2d have been working to reach
an agreement on passenger tratHc
have finally succeeded Tho agreement
Is now In effect and the general meet-
ing has adjourned sine die The new
organization which takes the place of
th Western Passenger association
has been christened the Western Trunk
committee It Is under charge of D
B Caldwell The committee now In-
cludes twentysix lines and there are
several others notably the Wabash
Pemer and Itlo Grande Illo Grands
Western and Union Patro which
have not as yet signed the agreement
It is believed that all these lines wilt
come in It makes no difference how-
ever whether none or all these lines
Join the committee Tho committee
wilt go on Just the same The agree-
ment will be submitted to the Union
Paclflo as soon as possible and a
strong effort will be made to induce it
to Join the committee If It remains
on the outside and provokes trouble
the other Hues will promptly combine
against It and give It the worst light
any road oer endured The agree-
ment which Is one of the most elastic
ever entered upon by the Western
roads covers all territory between Chi-
cago and the Paclna ocean and from
the Canadian Pacific to the southern
boundary of the United States It pro-
vides for the absolute maintenance of

be ralBod February 15 No penalties
will be lnlllcted and any road will be
allowed to take any action It may de
