William Anderson a stone cutter
who lived at fiQ 93fl West Hfth Btteet
nnd was well known In the city was
found dead early yesterday morning
under the trestle of tha Fort Worth
and Denver railroad at the rifth street
crossing There were two deep gashes
on the top of his head just above the
forehead and bruises on his body but
no blood was found on the spot or in
the immediate vicinity
The body was removed to tho under-
taking establishment of Wilkes
Qause Squire Adams viewed the re-
mains and wilt hold an Inquest this
morning
It Is reported that a negro saw a
man apparently Intoxicated trying to
climb up the railroad dump at that
point about dark Saturday evening
This leads to the supposition that the
dead man fell from tho trestle The
fact that ng blood was to bo seen at
the spot where he was found seems to
conflict with this theory and It Is sus-
pected therefore that he might have
been killed for the purpose ot robbery
and dragged there by the parties who
committed the crime
The deceased had been living In Tort
Worth about two years and bad been
engaged during the greater portion of
that time at his occupation of Btone
cutter Latel however he has been
out of employment and has been very
despondent In consequence It seems
that his troubles have caused lilm to
not In a strange manner of late He
had about decided to return to his old
home In Edinburgh Scotland which
lit left four years ago to come to this
country
He iiid nearly completed hts ar-
rangements for his trip and had he
lived would have taken his departure
for the old country in u few days Ho
left his home about noon Saturday
after talking very wirnestly ubout the
trip to one of his sons from that
timo nothing Is known of him until ho
was found dead yesterday morning
except tho atatement of John Rex the
foreman of tho stonecutters at the
government building who told one
of tho sons that ho saw him down on
Main street about dark His trunk
was examined when it was found that
