Farming is becoming a science
in Texas. It is being conducted
on a business basis for the purpose
of making money not purely for
scratching from tha soil a bare ex-
istence. As a result the percent-
age of agricultural failures are he.
coming less and the proportion of
success is taking rnnk with other
lines of industry.
Another industry has been ad-

No boy or girl wont there in his
time but what they were anxious
for thr next Sabbath to come to
get to see the great man again. He
was afterwards one of the greatest
Baptist Evangelist Texas ever had;
leading thousands to Christ in Tex-
as and in other parts of the world.
He had something new every Sun-
day to please the young; this he
would tell the children the Sunday
before and they would flock there
to see it and hear He had a very
large arm chair in the Sabbath
School which remained there for
years with "W E Fenn" on the
back of it it should !><■ kept for his
memory-it is part of his work
but little thing was hi.s way of works
He saved little things for little child
reh and a little thing goes a long
ways with children. You meet a
little boy or girl and pat them on
the head as he used to do- they
never forget you. This is the way
—He loved the work and the work-
ers. Our Savior said "Suffer little
children to come unto me and for-
bid them not." He held Christ up
before the world: and the only way
—ye must he born again- the
change of heart.
I can't walk a step by myself yet;
now 12 months. Hut I praise God
and say His will be done not mine
The Lord will raise me up—or take
me home to rest.

THE TEACHER AND HIS BOOKS
The teacher's books are a meas-

to rise above its ranye and level
Our young teachers spend rela-
tively too much time on text books
and far too little on hooka of inspi-
rational and^cultur&l values They
need books especially rich in the
elemeuts of character power and
culture.—The College Journal.
MANNERS.
Ther« is one teacher in the coun-
ty who has a manners class. Ques-
tions are asked and answers are
given as in any regular recitation.
Questions on table manners on
accepting favors on meeting peo.
pie on correct speech etc etc
are asked of all pupils. I will say
that no knowledge imparted by
that teacher haa been of more ben-
efit than that on manners
What is meant by education?
What education is worth while?
Have the teachers of the county
followed the course of Ptudyin this
work? The teacher who leaches
nothing but text books has per-
formed only a part of her duty.
Devote a short period daily to
teaching morals and manners.
All grades from the primary
through the hign school are in
need of this instruction.
