morning at 10 o'clock
Mr. I. L. Goldberg 3rd Vice
President called tin' m*H»ting t«i
j order and called on Mr. T L.
Torrans to explain the object of
this meeting. Mr. Torrans sta
ted that the object of this meet
in^r was ono of great importance
to the business men of Jefferson
and for the purpose of request
ing the Texas & Pacific railroad
to bring their freight and pas
sender stations to the business
part of the city. Mr. Torrans
remarks were enthusiastically
received and on motion of M. J.
Whelati a committee of two was
appointed to draft resolutions
setting forth the wishes of the
citizens of Jefferson. Mr. T. L.
Torrans and See S. E. Eber-
j stadt were appointed on said
committee.
j Mr. Ed !v. Boler Secretary
Chamber Commerce of Paris
Texas who was in^ Jefferson as a
guest of Sec. Eberstadt and who
was present at this meeting was
called on for a talk and made an
interesting one which was list-
ened to with marked attention
by every one. The subject of
Mr. lJoler's remarks was that
Paris was ready to join hands
at any time with Jefferson for
the developement of East Texas
and with an organization as the
Jefferson Progressive Club and
an energetic and progressive
secretary as Eberstadt Jeffer-
son is known from one end of
Texas to another and that the
advertisement which Jefferson
received at Mineral Wells would
be of productive value.
On motion of Sec. Eberstadt
a vote of thanks was extended to
Mr. Holer from the Progressive
Club for his unselfish and valu-
able assistance rendered Mr.
Eberstadt at Mineral Wells and
for his untirinar efforts in trying
to get the Commercial Secreta-
ries to meet in Jefferson in 1914.
Every firm in Jefferson was
represented at this meeting and
an earnest and determined effort
is going to be made to give Jeffer-
son this much needed improve-
ment for which Jefferson has
so patiently waited for many
long years.
