1 AN ACT
2 relating to jury summons questionnaires.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
4 SECTION 1. Sections 62.0132(b) and (d), Government Code,
5 are amended to read as follows:
6 (b) A written jury summons must include:
7 (1) a copy of the questionnaire developed under this
8 section; or
9 (2) the electronic address of the court's Internet
10 website from which the questionnaire developed under this section
11 may be easily printed.
12 (d) Except as provided by this subsection, a [A] person who
13 has received a written jury summons [
14 questinnaire] shall complete and submit a jury summons [--he]
15 questionnaire when the person reports for jury duty. If the
16 district and criminal district judges of a county adopt a plan for
17 an electronic jury selection method under Section 62.011, the
18 county may allow a person to complete and submit a jury summons
19 questionnaire on the court's Internet website as authorized under
20 Section 62.0111(b)(5).
21 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section
22 62.0132, Government Code, applies only to a written jury summons
23 sent on or after the effective date of this Act. A written jury
24 summons sent before the effective date of this Act is governed by1
