Notes

This low-lying, yet expansive house, located at 503 E. Angelina, features modest amounts of Classical Revival ornamentation. It survives as an intact and well preserved example of an early 20th century house in Palestine. The property retains much of its historic character and integrity. Research was only able to trace ownership of this house to the mid 1920’s, when it was owned by the Pierce Petroleum Company, though the building appears to date to the early 1900’s. By 1935 the house was occupied by Rev. Frank W. & Bobby Langham, of the First Presbyterian Church. Edwin A. and Clio Bigbee lived here in 1941; Mr. Bigbee was an agent for the Magnolia Petroleum Company. Photo was taken for the Historic Resources Survey of Palestine, Texas 1989-1991.
