WAK WHOOP
Marcli 2 II)7H
Since it has been warmer these days it is possible
that we may be hearing the carillion bells more
often. (I've heard it gets cold up in Rndford tower in
the winter.)
One sure sign that spring has come is sighting the
first Robin. (I haven't seen one as of yet.)
Many people are out scrubbing the winter dirt off
of their cars. (I need to do that.)
Many students are doing their studying outside
(It bents being inside.)
There are many more reasons I could point out as to
why it seems like Spring is in the air but I'll let you
figure them out.

You know there is definitely a feeling of Springtime
in the air. (There was on Tuesday anyway. I don't know
about today though. 1 can't predict the weather.) It sure
is nice (when it is warm out.)
Kay
How can you tell that it is Springtime. There are
numerous signs of it.
Some signs are: No one is wearing winter coats any
more (However don't put them in mothballs yet; in
Texas you never know about the weather.)
People are beginning to wear shorts and short
sleeved shirts.
More people are out these days riding bicycles
and jogging (while wearing the shorts.)
Some of the trees are beginning to bud out I
haven't seen any mesquites budding out though.
(So ten to one winter is not over yet.)
In another month or so the flowers on the campus
will begin blooming again. (According to Dr. Joe the
first Iris should be blooming around the first of
April. No foolin')
One of our married students
has decided to let ur singles in on
what college life is like for the
married couples. Let's take a
look . . .
Marriage and college do in-
deed make peculiar bedfellows
as the snying goes marriage
being for those that are ready to
"settle down" and college for
those who want to live it up.
First you must realize that
married students do not mix to-
tally with the dorm students.
Married students are placod off
campus with many being in the
well-known Vet Village area
where one seldom finds lights
radiating after 11.30 p.m. be-
cause people seldom travel the
only dirt road in Abilene the
one directly through the middle
of vet village after that time
Married students do have an
advantage. They get a first hand
look at what life builds: babies
dogs bills trash and food.
Along with this tho students
must take a job which presuma-
bly requires him to work only
part of the time. Few married
students have the privilege of
calling home to ask Dad to send
$100 a week. This of course is
socially unacceptable and usu-
ally ridiculous because if the
parents can afford to send $100 a
week you should be home help-

Socially the married couples
are the most successful. They

make them mad so everyone
says "Yeah ol' Joe Snow suro is

Are you an Indian enthusiast. If you arc there is a
perfect place this weekend that you can indulge in. The
second annual McM Pow Wow will be held in Old Indian
Gym on March 4th (that's Saturday for those of you who
do not have a calendar handy) and promises to be quite
interesting.
As I understand it there will be booths and trading
and dances. It should be alot of fun. If you are not
already an Indian enthusiast go to it. Who knows you
may become one.
Another upcoming event that certainly merits men-
tioning is the Bennett-Willson Lecture Series. These

It has been proven that mar-

grades. This is because he comc3

Actually married students
are usually so poor thnt study-
ing is the only affordable pas-
time. Go to the library some-
times and notice the married
studonts diligently soaking
their brains with knowledge
Try to imagine for u moment
that this is their entertainment
the height of their whole week.
They wait impatiently for the
library to open her doors so thnt
they may grasp a look nnd hold
it tightly with shaking band and
sweating palm knowing that
soon this esctacy will pass nnd
the library will close leaving
another week of lonesome idle-
ness among the dimly lit streets
of Vet Village.
