The art department's
painting drawing and ceramics
labs will relocate to the old
Coca-Cola building by the end
of the month.
"It's going to be so much
better than anything we've ever
had." said Ann Smith head of
the department of art.
The art labs will be locat-
ed in the red brick annex adja-
cent to Coca-Cola's old distribu-
tions building with renovations
that are almost complete at this
time.
"We wanted an industrial
tpe area with concrete floors
and brick walls" said Smith. "It
will meet our needs well."
Very little had to be done
to the annex to prepare it tor the
labs
Dr. Doug Chandler vice

are currently held will be sold

transfer needs to occur.
Stan Pena director of plant
operations said that the city
council will make a decision in
the next two months after an
appraiser for the city reports rec-
ommendations. "We're getting proactive
and starting (the move)" said
Pena.
Howard Payne University
has had possession of the build-
ings under lease for several years
with the American Building
Maintenance Company housing
operations there.
Pena said plans have been
in the works to move the art
department over to the old Coca-
Cola building for some time.
An architect hired by the
university is expected to look at
the main building at the end ol
this week to begin plans for its
renovation. The entire art depart-
ment is expected to be relocated
by next fall.
Students will be instructed
when and where to attend class in
the near future.
