Sneak preview day slated April 17th
High school students to observe chapel and class

Prospective students will
visit Howard Payne University
this Monday April
17.
Sneak pre-
view is a day in
which high school
juniors and seniors
can see HPU on an
academic and Chris-
tian level. Eighty
students have signed
up and will also get
a chance to expen-
ence resurrection week.
"Prospective students can
sit in on a class and get a feel for
college classes" said Theresa
Mayper directorof recruiting.
"The students can also see the
Christian perspective at HPU."
The day will include seminars
on admissions and finical aid cam-
pus tours and a faculty open house.
The open house will have represen-

largest recruiting activity sneak pre-

Indiana coach under investigation
ATLANTA - Recently released video tapes show the Indiana University
basketball coach Bob Knight choking Neil Reed during practice in 1997.
The practices were videotaped but only recently been publisized.
Since the story has been aired other former players have come for-
ward with accusations of unneccary conduct of the part of coach Knight.
Indiana University president Myles Brad appointed an investigation team
on March 23 to look into the allegations of choking throwing soiled toi-
let paper at players and throwing Brad the president out of basketball
practice
Plan to reunite Elian father on hold
FLORIDA-Relatives of Elian Gonzalez are still battling to keep
the Cuban native in the United States. The 6-year-old's father is in the
U.S. to take his son back to Cuba. Elian is reluctant to travel to sec his
father in Washington although a counselor has been trying to persuade
Elian to change his mind.
The Justice Department has drafted a letter to the Miami relatives
instucting that the boy's great-uncle bring Elian to the airport in Miami.
The letter has not yet been sent.
One man sought to take over 14 jobs
LONDON - 62-year-old Seamus McSporran a resident of the
Scottish island of Gigha is planning to retire and is looking for a person to
replace him in his job.
McSporran splits his 15-hour work days between 14 jobs including
shopkeeper rent collector postman special constable insurance agent
pier master registrar fire chief ambulanceman school bus driver guest
house owner petrol pump attendant taxi driver and undertaker.
"It will take some time to sort out a successor and get myself re-
tired so I may well be aged 65 before I give up work" McSporran said
Bush advisor hired by Microsoft
NEW YORK- Ralph Reed a consultant tor the Bush campaign tor
president was hired by Microsoft Corp. to win favor with the candidate
and maybe take advantage if Bush is elected to office Reed was the
former head of the Christian Coalition.

NEW YORK There is a growing trend lor parents to talk w ith
their kids about drugs according to a study by the Partnership for a Drue
Free America. Although many tear that the attempts are in am theie -proof
that educating children about drug abuse is working.
Panda pair coming from China
WASHINGTON The United States is going to pay one million
dollars to rent a pair of pandas for the next ten year foi the Washington
Zoo An additional amount will also be paid to Chinese othcials tor an
offspring that are produced by the pair while in the U.S.
There may be about a one year wait while the oo renovates the
panda living area.
15 illegal Chinese immigrants found in shipping container
in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES A cargo container trom 1 long Kong was lound
to contain 15 illegal immigrants from China on Monday. Officials had to
wear hazardous-material gear before entering the cargo cotainer.
