annual tradition which is designed
to promote school spirit and feature
the talents of campus organizations.
The second place act was
Zeta Chi's tale of a young World

a chance to attract prospective stu-

service to Howard Payne to make
the school even more appealing to
prospective students" Weathers
said.
IXA member John Norwood
thinks this angle gave them the edge
over the other organizations.
"Honestly I think the reason
we won is because our show was
more about Howard Payne" said
Norwood.
Zeta Chi member Matt
Deaton was proud of his fraternity's
performance.
"It was our goal as a group
of men to do our best. I'm proud of
us because we did our best. Hats off
to IXA" said Deaton.

Pre-registration going on until April 5
Students should make appointments with advisors as soon as
possible to ensure all degree plan requirements are satisfied
AMY LAK
SPECIAL TO THE YJ
Academic advisement for the
fall 2001 semester is scheduled for
March 22 to April 5.
Students are encouraged to
make an appointment with their
advisors as soon as possible.
'The earlier you get to meet
with your advisor the more likely
you are to get the classes and the
schedule you want" said Dr. Pep-
per Dill dean of enrollment ser-
vices. "Do a little planning and
thinking before you get there."
Students should try to have an
idea of what classes they need to
take before visiting with their ad-
visors. "Don't wait for the advisor to
do everything for you" said Lana
Wagner registrar.

"Their advisors are there to
help them not to be responsible for
them" Dr. Dill said. "Ultimately
the student is responsible and ac-
countable for their own degree plan
and the courses that they select."
Upon filling out a class
schedule card and getting it signed
by their advisor students should
take their schedules to the
registrar's office.
The registrar's office will in-
put the classes and print out a copy
of the student's schedule.

are sent out. Wagner expects to send
out the registration packets around
Aug. 1.
Returning the package com-
pletes the registration process.
Both Dill and Wagner said it
would be beneficial to take advan-
tage of academic advisement in or-
der to ensure that students get the
classes they want and need.
Pre-scheduling also keeps the
student from having to wait in line
on registration day.
Available to assist students in
the advisement process is the Stu-
dent Advisement Handbook. This
handbook contains general educa-
tion requirements as well as major
minor requirements.
It also contains degree plans
for each individual school of study.
Handbooks can be picked up in the
registrar's office.
