Payne's women's team in a
92-78 shootout Tuesday
night in a game in which
the Lady Jackets could
never retake an early lead.
The women jumped out
to a six point lead early in
the game but Tarleton
came back behind the out-
side shooting of Tina Pro-
cter and the inside play of
Jennifer Washington and
took a 38-30 halftime lead.
HPU scored the first six
points of the second half to
close the gap to 38-36 but
that was as close as the
Lady Jackets would get.

Intramurals
The intramural volleyball season is coming to a
close with playoffs scheduled for Dec. 7 and 8. The
times for the playoffs have not been decided yet said
Bobby Morris intramurals director.
As of presstime Wednesday the team standings
were:
In the women's competition the Oreos were in first
place with four wins and one loss followed by By the
Spirit 5-1; Too Hip 2-4; and Poopette 0-5.
In the men's teams the Sons of Thunder I were in
first place with six wins no losses. The Renegades
were second with four wins one loss and S.W.A.T. was
third with four wins two losses.
The Barbarians and Rejex were tied for fourth and
fifth with three wins three losses; Sons of Thunder II
2-4; and No Name and Condors 0-5.
The spring season of intramurals will start with

p.m. tomorrow and then
will play Hardin-Simmons
Monday at 7 p.m. in the
gym. The women will close
out the semester at the
Midwestern tournament
Dec. 8-10 where they will
meet Wayland Baptist for
the first time ever in the
first round of the
tournament.

Mall merchants will be
giving away prizes to win-
ners of a haltirne shoot. To
be eligible for the shoot a
fan must buy a numbered
program at the game.
Numbers will be drawn
during the halftime of each
