who are In Howard Payne Col-
lege this year is Ruben Reno
Melo fiom Monterrey Mexico.
Ruben is a descendant of Tho-
mas Westrup an Englishman
who pioneered in Baptist Mis-
sion work in Mexico.
Ruben completed elementary
and part of secondary school in
Monterrey. In 1944 he graduated
from Holdln High School in El
Paso.
The pastor of the First Baptist
Chinch In El Paso Rev. Jol
Amerlne informed young Melo
of Howard Payne College and
Immediately he enrolled here.
Ruben plans to study Civil En-
gineering. He expects to be in
Howard Payne College at least
two years. Although Ruben Melo
has been with us a short time
he likes the college and the
friendly spirit on the campus.
Another fotelgn student at-
tending Howard Payne is Paul
Cuevas native of Chihuahua.
Mexico. He is the fourth child of
a family of eight. Ho came to
Texas at the age of two when
his parents came to the United
States and lived in San Jo-e
California. Thcie young Cuevas
spent all his childhood and
completed his elementary edu-
cation. At the age of 12 he accepted
Christ as his personal saviour
but he was not baptized until he
was 18. Ho then joined the Mexi-
can Baptist Church of San Jose
California where he seived as
President of the Mexican Bap-
tist Association Training Union
