Monday was a day of glory
for the Simmons University Cow-
boy Band. First of all the band
was signally honored by being an-
nounced as ttfe official reception
band for Colonel Charles A. Lind-
bergh. Second the band opened
Its first day as one of the feature
musical attractions of the West
Texas fair.
Before Colonel Lindbergh's
party reached the downtown
streets yesterday the flashily at-
tired band paved the way for the
procession that bo was to lead
with a series of martial tunes up
and down the streets. Tho band
kept the crowds In good humor

The student musical organiza-

and end runs the Texas Aggies
easily defeated the Trinity Uni-
versity Tigers In their opening
game of the season last Saturday
afternoon at Kyle Field. No
time during the game was the
Aggies In danger of losing the
gnme although the Tigers put a
stilt fight. Tho final score of the
game was 45 to 0 for the Aggies.
The game was one of the
wholesale changes In the lineups
as both coaches made numerous
substitutions as tho play pro-
gressed. They were undoutedly
trying to pick their teams for the
coming season.
Hunt Davis and Dorsey did
most of the passing for the Ag-
gies while Slkes Petty Burgess
and Deffebaclt were on the re-
ceiving end of the plays. Hunt
and Burgess made several good
gains around end and through the
line.
Captain Roland in the line and
Rynu and Pettlt at quarter were
outstanding plnyers.for the Tig-
ers. Especially was the defensive
work of Ryan and Pettlt good.
The Tigers have a strong team and
when matched against someone.
more ot their caliber they will
make them get up and hustle.
