The rec center would com-
pare to those at the universities
of SMU. TCI' and Texas ASM
The plan for the rec center
includes classrooms where ex
ercise science will be taught
Hart said.
The rec center will also have
rooms whore students cm
study and get refreshments.

ed all day for student use of
the gyms weight rooms car-
dio equipment and the indoor
traik. Other features will In
elude a rock climbing wall and
a pool. Intramurals also will be
able to use the facilities to com-
pete Hart said.
"Overall I believe that a rec
center Is a fun place where
students and faculty can In-
teract on a dillerent level It
also is a great recruiting tool
to bring students to our cam
pus" she said.
Money has been the only
holdup in building the rec cen-
ter. A committee has been meet-
ing for about a year to plan for
the building
The committee has tried to
think of even aspect that ad-
dresses the building of a rec
center Hart said.
"Wo believe It will happen;
we Just have to be patient"
she said.
Hie department Is hope-
ful that building for the center
will begin by 2(XW. The build-
ing process will Like anywhere
from 10 to 18 months to com-
plete Hart said

"I went to Oklahoma State
University my freshman year
and it was a great convenience
to have access to a gym when-
ever I wanted" Totter said
"ACU would definitely belaying
down a foundation for fitness
by making that happen."
