Some dubs not
taking part in show
Service increasing
membership become
main focus
Sarah Carlson
Slaj) Writer
The pressure of Sing Song
is finally here but not all
social clubs arc feeling the
stress.
Trl Kappa Gamma Delta
Chi Ro and Trojans arc not
participating In Sing Song this
year but Instead arc focusing
their time on service and
increasing club membership.
Jim Drachenberg senior
physics major from Humble
and president of Delta Chi Ho
said his club members prefer
to put their efforts into other
things such as service oppor-
tunities. V
Drachenberg said prison
ministry Faith Works and
other on-campus activities
are prospects the club is cur-
rently looking in to.
Delta Chi Ro was chartered
in 2000 and Drachenberg
said it has always?been on
the smaller end." J
The club has seven active
members this semester but
Drachenberg said Uhc Sing
Song staff talked to the club
about performing despite its
small size.
"We do not have an anti-
Sign Song attitude" Drach-
enberg said. "It is just better
1 for us and our mission" to not
be involved in Sing Song.
Drachenberg said the
club's future participation in
Sing Song depends on that
year's current members and
what they think is best.
Erin Brickcr junior com-
munication disorders major
from Pcarland and president
of Trl Kappa Gamma said in
an e-mail that the club talked
last semester about partici-
pating in Sing Song but they
decided they had too few peo-
ple to perform well enough to
benefit the club.
Brickcr added they had not
known they could have par-
ticipated until many of the
deadlines for Sing Song had
already passed.
Trl Kappa Gamma won
Sing Song three consecutive
years from 1990 to 1992 and
was the largest social club on
campus at that time.
The club now has 16 active
members and eight pledges
and Brickcr said the club
hopes to build its numbers
again and develop its own act.
"We are so proud of our
club's past and Its legacy"
Brlcker said. "We only wish
more people knew about it
and would give themselves a
chance to be blessed by our
club the Way we've been."
Bricker said she would like
to see a group of godly
women pledge and help build
the club back up "so that
future ACU students can be
blessed through Kappas."
"If that is not what God has
in store for us" Brickcr said
"then we hope to make an
impact on this campus while
we can."

business at the store varies
between the Sing Song and
the Lectureship crowd.

that's our biggest day as far as
apparel sales for the semes-

usually start coining in
Friday afternoon. So those
are two real big days for us in
respect to apparel.
"Not only that we have
the Lectureship crowd that
t'omes in Saturday after
noon he
said. "We sell a
lot of trade
books a lot of
Christian
music and
then with
both audien-
ces we have a
lot of insignia
merchandise
and ACU spirit products."
Cory Bourg director of
ARAMARK said the Bean's
business increases the most
out of all the food services in
the Campus Center.
"Most students stay on
campus during this time so
meal plan use is increased"
Bourg said. "Also former stu-
dents come back and want to
eat in the Bean to sec how
much it has
changed. It's
sort of like a

campus meals
are catered by

tureship.
Both supervisors said they
adjust staff to Increase the
number of people available
to sero customers during
the weekend.
Williams said most cus-
tomers to the store will be
visitors to the university and
not students.
"Fanner students
come bach and want
to cat in the Bean ...
It's soit of like a mini
homecoming"
Cory Bourf director of ARAMARK
"Many of them have been
working or practicing late at
night for Sing Song" he said
"and although we would like
it to be different The Camp-
us Store is not on top of their
list of things to do this week."
Williams also said the
weekend Is exciting for the
staff.
"If you talk to any kind of
retailer everyone gets goose
bumps when the store's full
and packed with people" he
said. "It's a big weekend for
us; it's an opportunity for us
to cash in in a monetary way
but just be a part of the
excitement of Sing Song."
