Dear DOINGS Family:
I repeat, if you read these letters with
a satisfactory perspective, you must remember
that they are primarily family letters. They
began as strictly family letters, using carbon
sheets to make about 20 copies—fifteen, years
ago. As our list of "subscribers" increased
we began to mimeograph them—.about 75 copies.
Nearly all the names on our list have been ad-
ded ' on request of the subscriber or some rel-
ative or friend. This month we are printing
2,000. We think about four persons on the
average read each copy; so our readers number
7,000 or 8,000 now. We will never cease to
wonder why so many find them interesting; but
we will try to send them to all who really want
them. I wonder if, strictly speaking, The
DOINGS can properly be called a hobby. It was
a hobby for several years, and I suppose you
may still call it a hobby; but it is now more
like a job of work---which I enjoy because I
now know that it gives real pleasure to hundreds,
if not thousandsof the finest people on earth.
I presume you take .the Record-Chronicle,
and therefore I do not try to cover the local
news. I just write about members of our large
family, our friends, and people we know. I am
especially interested in former students of Denton
Hi-School---as well as the current crop. The
college field is too big for us---except the
relatively few students we know personally.
Thanks to the fine co-operation of the
Record-Chronicle, we are going to be able to
print quite a few of the pictures from the
Baby Parade supplement of Feb. 26th. If we
tried to print all of them, they would out-grow
us before we could get to all of them, as there
are more than 200 of them. Also, we do not
use pictures of babies under two or three years
oi age.if you can tell what a six-months-old
baby^is going to look like, you can beat me.
At six months, I cannot even tell whether they
are boys or girls! I have been trying for
months to get the pictures of some of the kids.
