Porno stars to sue Subbers
Pornographic film stars Marilyn
Chambers Miles Long and John Holmes
have united to sue the men of Sub T-16 for
defamation of character in connection
with the use of their names in the 1982 Sjng
Song program.
"To think that artists of our caliber
would be involved in such a tawdry affair
is totally absurd" said Chambers in a
statement issued by the three "They may
be nice guys but they've gone too far."
A spokesman for the club who wishes to
remain anonymous and used a voice-
masking device on his phone said the club
did not expect this kind of reaction. "We
thought they would enjoy the free
publicity especially someplace where
their names are seldom heard. Besides I
met Marilyn once and she didn't seem like
the type to hold this kind of grudge."
Sing Song coordinator 'John Duty has
mixed emotions about the action. "I think
it's good that someone is finally showing
Sub T that they can't get away with
whatever they want just because some
powerful alumni were Subbers" said
Duty. "On the other hand it might give the
school a really bad name if one of our
organizations loses a court case to porno
stars."
Members of Sub T remain basically
unconcerned however. "We got away with
'fairies on stage and going 15 minutes last
year didn't we?" offered another mem-
ber. "We just don't think that it can't be
settled before any serious court action
begins."
This is the latest in a long series of cases
against Sub T-16 involving Sing Song
including a suit from the Lumberjacks'
Anti-defamation League two years ago
and the Convicts United for Respectability
the year before that. All previous cases
were settled out of court and under the
table.

Lots of potential
Two hopeful candidates await their turn to audition during tryouts for
cheerleaders last week. Approximately two candidates signed up for tryouts.
'83 Campaign sites cited
Niagara Falls N.Y.; Nassau Bahamas;
and San Salvador El Salvador; have been
selected as target cities for the 1983 Spring
Break Campaigns said Steve Bishop
student coordinator of the project.
"We're really excited about it" said
Bishop after an organizational meeting
Monday "SBC will now be officially an
international effort. Although the cost for
each campaign will be exorbitant we feel
nothing is too much when it comes to
evangelism."
Bishop said that tentative leaders have
been selected already.
Optimist staff writer Billy Olson world-
class pole vaulter and a real nice guy will
head up the team journeying to Niagara
Falls. Students will man a tract stand in
the Falls Gift Shop and participate in
choral singing at several of the Falls'
scenic overlooks. Highlight of the week
will be Friday afternoon when Olson will
attempt to shatter his own outdoor jum-
ping record by vaulting up the Falls and
onto a waiting canoe.
Courtney Connell returning senior
accounting major from Sweetwater and
survivor of this year's flooding will lead
the NassauCampaign. Since it will be the
height of the tourist season the theme for
the campaign will be "A Salvation Surfin'
Safari." The team will don modest bathing
apparel and hand out inflatable beach
balls with cross and fish emblems on them.
Also students will wear reflector
sunglasses having "Jesus is the Way"
emblazoned on them. Other events include
a believers versus unbelievers volleyball
game and a special exhibition of tree
surfing by Connell
Leading the campaign to San Salvador
will be members of the ACU Police
Department. Participation in this cam-
paign is limited to campus police officers
and ROTC students. The first three days
will consist of exercises in house-to-house
guerilla door-knocking during which the
campaigners will receive additional
training from a SWAT team made up of
members of the native church.
Contacts will be invited to a three-night
seminar on the theme "The Acquisition
Maintainance and Effective Use of the
Armor of God."
When questioned about the cost of these
campaigns Bishop said he foresees no real
problems.
"The profits netted from Sing Song next
year should be almost enough to cover the
expenses. We plan to ask for 80-90 percent.
"You've got to understand the
magnitude of this undertaking The
students are making supreme sacrifices
by giving up the chance to stay here during
Spring Break to work on papers. Instead
they are venturing out to unfamiliar places
to reach out to the lost."
Bishop said some additional costs in-
cluded: Life jackets and rain slickers for the
Niagara Falls Campaign.
A case of Coppertone and surf boards
as well as the beach balls and sun glasses
for the Nassau Campaign
M-lfis bullet-proof vests SWAT team
field handbooks Bandaids and Bactine for
the San Salvador Campaign.
