DY JOHN SIMMONS
AnoUcr gamo has been played
by tlio Wildcats and tliis time
the Cats came out on top.
It stems that the Wildcats can
not find a team that is onywhero
near their own size. Tlio Junior
college team of Amarillo out-
weighed thent about ten pounds
to tho man.
HoV it is that a small Junior
college- can manage to got such
big powerful men is more than
wo can rice.' Tlio Badgers had
tho fleet and mighty Flowers
from Big Spring to help tote the
mail around as well as Jack
Russell from Hereford. Jack is a
poweifuj driving half; ho Is tho
brother of the fleet Habe Russell
who tied tlio state iccord in tlio
220 and 100 yard dash in 1030.
Amarillo had several others that
were ns good os these. Tholr
buckfiold averaged only 200
pounds. Yes they grow nice size
men in the cold frigid zone of
Texas.

The dcpaitment thinks that
the Wildcats deepened the im
pression on "Bugs" that ho has
tho strongest team in history.
The Badger game uncovered a
one-play man with an educated
toe. Now McMurry Is not the
only team in the conferenco wltli
a man that can put the pigskin
between tlio uprights. Our own
Bert Ezzoll can compcto with tlio
best of them. Ho scored 100 por
cent at Amarillo making two
out of two possibilities.
-V
Jak0 Gray tho Wildcat rap-
tain is heading straight for the
all conference piot position
judging from his exhibition in
tho past two games. Jako is the
most consistent defensive center
that has played on tho Wildcat
team in several years. Dalton
Hill is ranked -as tlio outstand-
ing center for tlio local team
but we bcllovc we can modestly
say that Jako deserves a place
right along side of Hill.
Baldwin played a Jam up game
in fullback position. Ho got to
play tho cntiro sixty minutes of
the game. It comes to tho dc
purtment that lie got off some
ery neat quick punt.s. Baldwin
is a big powerful triplo threat
man from Winters the homo of
the Blizzards.
The boys of ACC arc now fac
ing a swell opportunity. That is
becoming a member of the Boys
Pep Squad. Tills has long been
needed and is now becoming a
realization. So boys wake up to
the opportunity that is now com-
ing to you that of being a mem-
ber of the first boys pop squad
to yell for those Fighting Wild-
cats in their first Texas confer-
ence game.
Wouldn't a boys pep squad
loo swell kfiling off of tlio
special train at Brownwood on
the seventh of October?
Say that special wouldn't look
bad In itself lilled with Wildcats
and Wildcat supporters. It will bo
the first and best opportunity to
see the Bugsmen in action. But
don't forget who you are going
to trounce in the sod. The much
hated lival Daniel Baker the
team that lias destroyed our
hopes more than onco for a con-
ference victory. With tho tcom
we have at present wo should all
be thnilled at the pleasure of go-
ing on that special that pulls
out on the morning of October 7.

Is Roberson's Plea
Professor Chas. II. Roborson
spoke on "Study" in Chapel Snt
unlay. He took IiIh lext from 2
Timothy 2:15 nnd explained that
this 4toxt meant literally to
"mak'o a straight couiso It tho'-'
word of truth."
"Thoro are thrco rensons yotf
should study" Robcrson said.
"First you must study to havo
iho approval of the teacher. It
is profitable for you to study the '
teacher becauso ho will place .
stress on those things most Im-
poitant. t
"Second you must study to.
meet tlio npprovnl of your paw?.:
ents. No boy should want to dis-
appoint his parents slnco they
ure making sacrifices for him to
go to school. Tho first com-
mandment with promise rests
upon this ono'thing. '
"Third you must 'study to have
your own approval. Wo desire
commendation rather than 'con-
demnation. Do not put off your
studies until time for iho exam-
inatlon but uso each today that
you may bo ready and have your
own approval."
