IN TEXAS HISTORY

The Fred White Jr. Research Fellowship is
awarded annually for the best research propos-
al for a book manuscript having to do with
Texas history.
Applications must be submitted by December
31, 2oo3. The application, which should be no
longer than two pages, should specify the pur-
pose of the research, the need for the money,
and a description of the book that will result
from the research. Please include a complete
vita with the application. The award will be
announced at the Association's annual meeting
in March 2004. Judges may withold the award
at their discretion.

The Fred White Jr. Research Fellowship was
established in 1998 from funds made available
by the family and friends of Fred White Jr. The
Fellowship honors Mr. White for his great love
of books and for his many contributions to
Texas history and the Texas State Historical
Association.
