Tapia after Jean Louis Berlandier, circa 1834. Pencil drawing, 81/2 x 163/4 inches.
This drawing is one of the earliest representations of Goliad. Sanchez was em-
ployed by Berlandier to draw this illustration based on Berlandier's sketch from
the late 182os, which Berlandier made while a member of the Comisi6n de
Limites (Mexican Border Commission) on its tour of Texas in 1828-1829. Cour-
