NANCY NICHOLS BARKER
The diplomatic correspondence of the French charges d'affaires to the
Republic of Texas. Hundreds of on-the-scene reports by French agents, in-
structions from Paris, and related documents, affording both a vast store of
Texana and an essential tool for research. Beginning with consideration of
recognition of the new republic, they continue almost without interruption
until the annexation of Texas to the United States.
An introduction for each volume, by Dr. Barker, places the correspond-
ence in historical perspective.
