M. Bigelow in print during the past year. Both have been delayed, how-
ever.
Work continues on the third volume of the Handbook of Texas. Eldon
Branda, editor; Phillip Fry, Roy Barkley, Lisa Frantz, Ernestine Wheelock,
Marty Calvert, Richard Fossey, Marlene Glade, Bob Brown, John John-
son, and Anita Glade have worked at proofreading the galleys and page
proofs. The publication of Volume III will be the Association's contri-
bution to the Bicentennial celebration.
ANNUAL MEETING
The Association returned to Austin for its seventy-ninth annual meet-
ing, March 6-8, 1975. The program committee-Sandra Myres, chair-
man; Chester R. Burns, Maury Darst, Lewis L. Gould, Terry G. Jordan,
James W. Pohl, and Marilyn M. Sibley-provided the 7oo persons in
attendance fifteen exciting and varied sessions. Sixty-four scholars from
forty-four institutions took part in the program.
The Fred R. Cotten Memorial Auction of Texana conducted by Al
Lowman and Lonn Taylor netted $2,169.
At the business meeting following the Friday luncheon, the following
officers were elected for the year 1975-1976: president, Billy Mac Jones;
first vice president, Dan Kilgore; and second vice president, Ernest Wal-
lace. To serve on the Executive Council the members reelected Marilyn
M. Sibley of Houston Baptist College to a three-year term and named
Archie P. McDonald of Stephen F. Austin State University to a three-
year term.
The 1976 Annual Meeting will be held March 4-6, at the Hotel Galvez
in Galveston. The Galveston Historic Foundation will host the meeting.
The program committee-Ben H. Procter, chairman; C. Alwyn Barr,
Thomas L. Charlton, Sandra Myres, and Porter A. Stratton-are planning
sixteen fine sessions for the three-day meet.
The nominations committee-Roger N. Conger, chairman; George
Woolfolk, Ben Pingenot, Mary S. Pearson, and Robert Cotner-is now
receiving recommendations for members to serve on the Executive Council
in place of those whose terms will expire in i976. Anyone wishing to make
suggestions for nominations should contact a member of the committee.
AWARDS
The Coral H. Tullis Memorial Award of $200 for the most outstanding
contribution to Texas history for the year 1973-1974 went to Malcolm D.125
