of the
ADVANTAGES TO BE DERIVED FROM THE EMPLOYMENT
of
50,000
upon
THE SECURITY OF LANDS
IN
THE MEXICAN PROVINCE
of
TEXAS.
THE Government of the Mexican Province of Coahuila and Texas,
with the previous authority* of the Supreme Government of
the Republic, has granted to Major-General Wavell, an English GRANT.
Gentleman in the Military Service of Mexico, a valuable Tract
of Land, situate in the Province of Texas, compromising about
Ten Million Acres, upon the following Conditions:-
That he or his representatives shall introduce into the Province Terms of
400 families from Europe, within a period of Six years; or a greater the Grant
number, at his or their option. to Gen.
That in case all the Lands should not be occupied by his Settlers Wavell.
at the termination of the period mentioned, the Lands then un-
occupied, after allowing One League square, or about 5000 Spanish

Lands, it was necessary according to the existing laws, that the Pro-
vincial Government should obtain the approbation of the Supreme
Government, previously to any cession. (This and subsequent entries
