PREDICTIONS

Members of the War Whoop
sports staff are happy to an-
nounce that no one came even
close to the exact score of the Detroit-Green
Bay game last week
The official tally was Detroit 52
Green Bay 17 One contestant
guessed Detroit 48 but over-
estimated Green Bay by putting
them down for 34 points
Judging from the scored turn-
ed in for this game the War
Whoop feels highly confident that
no one will ever guess the exact
score of a pro game And so with
this in mind we are again offer-
ing another pro game for some
lucky person to predict the ex-
act score and become five dol-
lars richer
Glenn (Snake) Bennett edged
Marchand McDougal for first
place in last week's predictions
contest In winning last week
Glenn became the first person to
be a two-time winner so far this
season It should also be noted
that runnerup Marchand is a
previous winner Last week both
contestants guessed fourteen out
of eighteen games correct Glenn
came closer to the exact score of
the Detroit-Green Bay game

McM Papooses Help Tech
By Fumbling; Lose 50-0
McMurry's Papooses fumbled
freely last weekend in Lubbock
against the Texas Tech Red
Raider B team and as a result
came up on the short end of a
55-0 score
The "butter-finger' tactics
offset the commendable run-
ning of freshman Malcolm
Garrett. Garrett former
Crane High School great col-
lected 171 yards on 19 carries
for the Papooses but the little
Tribsters lost the ball 7 times
on 9 rumble A scoreless
first period was followed by
a 28-polnt splurge in the sec-
ond quarter 13 points in the
third and 14 in the fourth.
Tech's Jerry Millsap returned
a punt for 24-yards to the Mc-
Murry 18 to set path for the Red
Raiderettes first tally an 8-yard
ramble around right end by
quarterback Carl Madison John
Moughon made his first of seven
successful conversion attempts
John Rowland of Hamlin
younger brother of McMurry's
former star Brad and present
sophomore end Don recovered
a fumble on the McMurry 47 to
set up a five-yard scoring run
by Pat Green Another fumble
recovery this time by Joe Moore
of Abilene who made the most
of the tackles in the secondary
gave Madison his cue to hit
Green on a 43-yard pass play for
a score
Trailing by a 34-0 count
the Papooses' Garrett ran 37
yards to pace a McMurry
drive from the McMurry 34
to the Tech 19 before the
hometown took over. On the
second play from the Tech
25. Madison hit Norman James
on 50 and the halfback went
the rest of the way. Moulhon
recovered Don Smith's fum-
ble on the McMurry 7 and
George Crew of Childress
opened the fourth quarter by
scooting five yards to pay-
dirt. McMurry's Garrett again gave
gave McMurry a "morale-booster"
by scampering 53 yards to the
Tech 29 but Redskin quarter-
back Mickey Martin fumbled on
the last down on the 23 Tech
drove on back all the way Mill-
sap tossing to Dan Pennington of
Shamrock the final 21 yards

The Tribe-Kangaroo tilt will
bring to Abilene one of the most
respected and experienced
coaches in Southwest football
Here s whit they say about him at
Sherman 'The small grayish
man doesn't look like a footbill
coach You would never tike him
to be one of the giants of foot-
ball coiching in the U S and ou
cettainly would never think of
him as being selected to Grant-
land Rice's Ail-American team "
"The passing game is what drew
most attention to Morrison He is
credited with almost singlehand-
edly bringing the forward pass to
the Southwest Conference which
now counts a game dull affair
unless at 20 passes arc thrown
and 10 or 12 are completed "
"Morrison was not much of a
passer himself No he was a
runner but the pass fascinated
him On the Vandcrbilt eleven in
1908-1911 he was one of the best
broken-field runners the game had
known In 1911 the year that
