PREDICTIONS
DICK COLLINS
WINS DOLLAR
Dick Collins is the winner of
this week's buck. He picked 15
of 20 correct closer than did Tom-
my Tyrell who also picked 15 of
the 20.
Right behind these two were
George Owens John Polk Jack
Reese and James Marshall all who
picked 14 of 20.
No one picked Texas Western
to squeeze by Hardln-Slmmons and
only one picked McMurry to be
beaten by Howard Payne and SMU
to take on the chin from A&M.
Everyone had it figured out that
Texas would beat Baylor Army
to pound New Mexico Ohio State
to win from Wisconsin and Notre
Dame to buck Pittsburgh.
Here are 20 more games being
played tomorrow. Pick the winner
and turn in your predictions by 10
tomorrow morning.

sports program will begin after
the Thanksgiving holidays accord-
ing to Miss Margaret Godbey di-
rector of the inrtamurals.
President Hall seemed to monop-
olize the win columns of the first
two sports in the program. Third
floor President beat out the Second
floor to win the softball title while
Second floor took the basketball
ciown by defeating Third floor.

If ever a group of Indian foot-
ballers wanted to win a game you
can bet your bottom roll of wam-
pum that eight seniors who wind
up their college eligibility tonight
want to beat the Southwestern Pi-
rates. The hustlin' Indians we'll not
be seeln' back next season are Co-
captains Bob Relly and Floyd
Sampson Edgar Payne Brad Row-
land Doyle Dean Billy Murphy
Marvin Sanders and Hubert Mld-
dlebrooks. The fact that they arc
grouped neatly according to home
towns attracted my attention.
Reily Murphy and Middlcbrooks
call Abilene home; Dean and Row-
land hail from rfamlln; Payne and
Sanders claim B a 1 1 i n g e r ; and
Sampson the only singular is from
Anson.

Have been talking to Coach Mel
Jowell and found out that McMur-
ry is to have an added attraction
as far as basketball goes. Since
the varsity squad offers places for
only about a dozen players many
potential basketballers have been
discouraged. This year however
there Is to be room for about twice
as many. To take care of this a
"B" team is to be formed.
The "B" squad will consist of

"It's an air age" and the How-

it as they whipped McMurry's In-
dians last Saturday afternoon in
Brownwood 59 to 31.

with 5 TD passes the first on the
third play of the game that left
the Indians helpless. Davenport

those ficshmen and Sophomores
who lack enough experience to play
for the "A" stiing. The "B-team-ejs"
will work out at the same
time ns the Varsity and will also
be coached by Jowell. He has al-
ready lined up 3 games for the
new team and expects to arrange
7 more. All men who are inteiested
and arc willing to put in some
work and practice should contact
Coach Jowell soon as workouts are
to start next week.

I think those guys out there de-
serve some recognition. An all-

basketball but as yet none for

Note of Interest: Coach R. M.
Medley who brings his Southwest-
ern Pirates here tonight was Mc-
Murry's first coach. He screvd from
1023 to 1938. Something else our
campus stadium was named in
Coach Medley's honor. The stadium
was used for football games earlier.
yards on the ground to ring up
a staggering total offense of 139
yards for the afternoon.
McMurry's hid for tho game's
individual honors Brad Rowland
also played hit part well. Little
All-America Ron land personally
scored three times and passed
to Goorgo On ens for a fourth.
Davenport's first quarter passing
made the ardent Indian rooters
moan. He passed for 4 touchdowns
in the initial period to put the
Jackets ahead 34-6 at its end.
The Yellow Jackets exploded
early after the klckoff. The game
was only a minute old when Daven-
port passed to Bcarrow on McM's
30. Bearrow hot-footed it over the
goal from theie to make it 7-0.
One of many Redman fumbles
sot up n second HPC score. Daven-
port passed 37 yards to Bearrow
to make it 13 to 0 for Howard
Payne.
The Yellow Jackets tallied twice
more before the Indians broke the
ice. Paul Stewart plunged over
from 1 foot out and Davenport
passed to Charlie White for a sec-
ond. Rowland then took the kickoff
proceeded 85 yards before being
stopped and scored on the next
play from the 10-yard line.
The Brownwooders hit back.
Davenport" passed another touch-
down to slick-fingered Bcarrow.
The first quarter ended 31-6.
McMurry scored twice In tho
second period once on a plunge
by Rowland after a 45 yard
drlw and the other on a SO yard
run by Rowland. Howard Payne
tallied nnrn on a pass from Dav-
enport to Bearrow. The half-
time 40-20.
The Indians' fourth TD came
on a pass from Doyle Dean to
Dick Jackson in a play covering
76 yards.
Another Indian pass in the final
quarter from Rowland to George
Owens scored and Pat Patterson
kicked his fourth extra point in
5 tries.

The Pirates have a 2-2 confer-
ence leeord as cnmp.ued to Me-
Murty's 1-3 win. loss column
Southwestern was knocked out of
a tie in second place with Texas
AX-1 lust week when tho Javelinas
dclcUcd them 20 to 7.
The Georgotownors conched by
R. M. Medley who was McMurry's
first coach somewhat hurt the In-
dians' pride Inst year in the sea-
son's finale for both teams. South-
western staged whai was consid-
ered a major upset and tied the
mighty Indians 20-20.
Tho Indians' final contest could
well feature tho passing of Frank
White against the running of
Brad Rowland hut again the
Indians can present a "whale"
nf a passing attack themselves.
Last nook Doyle Dean tossed to
Dirk Jackson fnr a TD as did
Brad Rowland to George Owens
who is creating somewhat of a
sensatinn in the Texas Confer-
ence's pass snatching depart-
ment. White who rates third In con-
ference passing has an ace receiver
in the person of James Adkins
who holds the No. 3 spot in pass
receiving. The Pirates' main threat
on the ground seems to be Kelly
Burkhart and he like White and
Adkins favors the numeral three.
Burkhart is third in Texas Confer-
ence scoring.
Rowland dropped the total of-
fense lead to CurUs Davenport last
week as Howard Payne beat Mc-
Murry 59-34 but "Ramblln' Brad"
still owns the crown in individual
rushing punting and scoring.
Juniors Win

Touch-Pass
The Juniors clinched the intra-
mural touch-pass football crown
Tuesday as they blanked the For-
um entry 6 to 0. The only and
winning touchdown enme on a pass
from Hartwoll Mai tin to Dick
Rlchey.
A loss by the Juniors would have
put both tho Freshmen and the
IHR group in a position to tie them
for first place. The fight is for sec-
ond place since the Fish and IHR
were deadlocked at the time this
went to press.
Here's how the records look with
three scheduled games remaining:
Team Win Losses Ties
Juniors 8 1 0
Freshmen S 8 0
IHR 5 8 1
Sophomores 4 4 1
Forum 2 4 8
