Wait up there just a minute
will you? Sure we know you are
going home but we want to
wish you a very Merry Christ-
mas and a Happy New Year.
There is nothing quite so cele-
brated and universially loved by
everyone as Christmas every-
thing it brings and stands for.
It should be this way and no
other. The very foundation of
all civilization had its beginning
with the birth of Jesus Christ
on this day. So stop and let
yourself think just a moment on
this fact. At this time when
everything seems to be slowly
crumbling to earth let us grasp
the one thing that can never
change Jesus Christ and all that
He means to us. In the midst of
all )our merrymaking in the
week to come pause at least
once and give thanks in your
heart that you are of a Christ-
ian nation and a Christian peo-
ple. One thing that should be
commented on is the various pro-
grams and entertainments that
Daniel Baker talent has been
called upon to add to during the
fiast week. Just glance over the
ront page evidently we have
something worth hearing or
there would not be quite so
many demands for these appear-
ences. Mr. Pat Howard was here
Monday evening and gave his
plans for the band during the
second semester. He plans to
have one good practice weekly
preferably on Monday after-
noon. All students will be glad
to hear this the students in the
band because of the enjoyment
in playing good music and the
remaining students because of
the enjoyment of hearing good
music. Inclosed also in Mr. How-
ard's plans are arrangements for
Erograms to be played in chapel
ere and concerts to be taken
to various other towns.
Well we guess this has kept
you long enough so good bye
and have one big time.

Mclnnis Hostess
S.O.S. Wednesday
Wednesday night December 18
at eight o'clock In the home of
Mary Ann Mclnnis the annual 8.
O. S. Christmas party was held.
The guests were admitted by the
hostess Into a room that sparkled
and glistened of Christmas Cheer.
In one corner of the room stood
a brightly lighted and decorated
Christmas tree under which excit-
ing looking packages were piled.
Added to this was a number of
gifts brought by the S. 0. S. mem-
bers as they arrived.
After the house was filled with
guests the games began. Bor-
rowed from the past Christmas
the first game dealt with written
requests to St. Nicholas. Instead
of each person writing his own let-
ter to Santa Clause It is writ-
ten by the person next to him.
Strange and very revealing were
the results read by the appoint-
ed Santa Clause. Not any less ex-
citing was the fast and furious de-
bate participated In by Margaret
Buchanan and Joe Owen. The title
of the question was: Resolved:
That There Ain't No Santa Clause.
Anyone who held over from his
childhood any opinion on this sub-
ject found this battle unusually
interesting.
One of the games most enjoyed
by the guest was the one called
"Santa's Bag of Stunts." Drawn
from a bag representing the pack
of the Yulettde Hero were outlines
for several stunts that brought
halarlous results from the spec-
tators. Among the comic sketches
were the following: An old-fashioned
gay nineties photograph; an
amusing and very romantic pro-
posal; laughter In three keys; and
a pantomlne of spectators at a
Wild West Show and Romantic
movie.
After the games came the dis-
tributing of gifts by a rather fa-
miliar Santa Clause which proved
to be none other than the club
Sweetheart "Plnkey" Denman.
After the toys of various types
were enjoyed by the happy own-
ers they were placed In a Christ-
mas basket which Is to be given
to the negro children of the .city.
The refreshments served to the
party were received with open
arms and glowing appetites They
consisted of pimento cheese sand-
wiches cookies candy and coffee.
Candles shaped like Old Santa
lighted the dining room. On the
plates was a very effective and
timely favor in the form of a can-
dle. Close Inspection revealed a
chocolate mint a peppermint stick
and a plpecleaner In the makeup
of the candle. As has been the
custom In the past the group left
the party to go carolling. Despite
the cold strong voices lent their
musical ability to the singing of
such familiar carole as Silent
Night 0 Little Town of Bethlehem
and It Came Upon a Midnight
Clear. The carolers visited the
homes of Sam McLaughlin and T.
H. Hart and other places.
She is a member of the Twenti-
eth Century Club prominent
Brownwood organisation. Then
asked what her hobby is Mrs.
Horn replied "Every hobby under
the sunt" She enjoys everything
from the upholstery of furniture
to painting. Mrs. Horn who is
easily pleased has no particular
likes or dislikes.
These qualities and her friend
ly disposition make Mrs. Horn the
favorite faculty member of the
