Former Republican presidential Candida.te Thomas E. Dewey
arrives in Dallas on his way to Sherman for the funeral
of his father-in-law. Greeted by G-O-P friends, the governor
of New York is taken to International House at Love Field
for a brief interview with reporters and photographers, andmeets State Republican Committeeman Henry Zwiefel of Fort
Worth and other republican leaders, who say there's no talk
of politics---it's just a chance to meet a national leader.

Governor Dewey is traveling alone---his wife already is in
Sherman---and state police escort him there for today's
funeral.

Mrs. Dewey's father, 75-year old Oral T. Hutt, died at the
Executive Mansion in Albany, New York, where he was visiting
the Deweys. Graveside services and burial are at the Huttfamily plot in the Sherman cemetery.
