Summary: Interview with Henry Akin, Jr., an attorney, concerning his role as the attorney for the Richardson (Texas) Independent School District during the integration of the Richardson and Hamilton Park schools during the 1960s and 1970s. Akin discusses his working relationship with Principals J.J. Pearce and Raymon Bynum, the effect of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the response to H.E.W. guidelines, the decisions of the 5th Circuit Court, the closing of Hamilton Park Junior High School, redrawing school boundaries, his dealings with Steve Gurwin of the Department of Justice, and the development of Pacesetter.

Interview conducted in 1989 for the Texas Community History (Hamilton Park) Oral History Project.
