Notes

Series description from donor: "I have chosen to submit these 5 files because I feel like they are good representatives of the unique campus life/culture that we as students experienced this semester due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. I chose a picture representing the new version of sorority recruitment that was required of the Panhellenic women at UNT and many others across the United States. I chose the screenshot of the tweet because as I stated in the description for it I think it showcased the animosity many students were feeling surrounding fees and charges Universities were still trying to impose (and not just at UNT) around the nation. I chose the picture of me on the first day of early voting because not only was the election a major historical event of this year, but the way voting was conducted was uberly important as well. In addition, one of the voting locations as on UNT's campus and served many of the student body as their voting location. I chose the picture of my first journal entry because it may hold value or insight for someone in the future who is doing research over this period and wants an inside view into what the daily life of someone was during this time period. Finally, I chose the screenshot of the Presidents message because it shows the gravity of the COVID-19 situation and how even after 9 almost 10 months this issue is still just as big (if not even bigger) and no less under control. The most control we have is electing to get tested regularly which is why the University has free testing sites around campus. Together, I felt that all 5 of these artifacts accurately portrayed the campus/University life experience here at North Texas during this historic moment."

Item description from donor: "Screenshot of a tweet from July 1, 2020. Written by a UNT student in response to the original tweet put out by the University of North Texas' twitter page. The student made a call for the University to adjust tuition rates for "unusable facilities and amenities" during the upcoming fall semester instead of charging students the usual full amount. This tweet garnered thousands of likes and retweets which helped showcase the attitude of consensus surrounding tuition rates amidst the uncertain times when many students had been put out of jobs or were not eligible to receive the stimulus checks."
