[Custer Cox and Schoolchildren]

Description: Photograph of a group of boys and girls of various ages standing with Custer Cox in front of the door of a schoolhouse. The group is arranged in three rows, with younger children standing in the front and middle rows and older children standing on either side of Custer Cox in the back row. Cox is wearing a suit with a boutonniere and stiff white collar. The children in the front row are barefoot. A handwritten note on the reverse side of the mat says "Custer might be teacher."

Description: Patent for a durable, simple, and inexpensive riding-saddle. The seat, front, rear, and middle jockeys and cantle are made form one piece of leather. The rear quarter is laced to the cantle, and the saddle has a bag for storing articles during travel.
