The device acts as a form of security to ensure unauthorized individuals are unable to move the vehicle. Description: Patent for a new and improved saw mill dog. This design "is an improvement in the class of dogging apparatus which is affixed to one of the knees of a head-block of the log-carriage" (lines 8-11).
