[Dead On The Battlefield]

Description: Photograph of dead Villistas at the battle of Celaya. In this image there are bodies piled together on the ground. Accompanying information states: "These dead Villistas are the result of the battle of Celaya in which Obregon defeated Francisco Villa and his Villistas. In this one battle Villa lost approximately 4000 men with another 6000 being taken prisoner. 120 of the imprisoned officers were executed shortly afterwords."

Christmas Greetings

Description: Color postcard depicting a small Christmas Elf, dressed in red, standing by a sprig of holly. Printed on the card is, " Christmas Greetings. Your very sweetest Christmas dreams, If they should all come true, Could not bring more happiness, Than I hope for you." Correspondence on the back reads, "Merry Xmas and Happy New Year from Mrs. Monroe." It is addressed to Mrs. Earl Dill, Denison St., Paris, Texas. It is postmarked El Paso, Texas in Dec 21, 1915.

[Mexican refugees being loaded on trains]

Description: Photograph of Mexican refugees fleeing during Pancho Villa's attacks. A large group of people are being loaded onto a flatbed train car; on the right, one unidentified man is helping a woman onto the train. The image accompanied a written speech, with the caption: "The people were loaded onto railroad cars and sent to El Paso to be relocated in Mexico near Juarez. Finally, in 1920, when Carranza was ousted as President of Mexico, Pancho Villa made peace with the government" (p. 9).

Description: Photograph of Rodolpho Fierro's body after he drowned near Chihuahua. His body, from the shoulders down, is covered in a white sheet and wearing a hat. [General Agustin Estrada]

Description: Photograph of the rebel general, Agustin Estrada. Estrada was a general in Pancho Villa's rebel army, the Division del Norte (the Division of the North). Estrada was appointed garrison commander in 1912. He participated in the Battle of Celaya, April 6-15, 1915, fighting under Villa against Alvaro Obregon. Villa's cavalry suffered large losses in the battle, General Agustin Estrada was one of the casualties; he was killed leading his cavalry brigade against Obregon's forces.
