Unfortunately we could not find any corroborating historical information that the Army Officer seen here, on horseback front, is in fact a Colonel Girrard with the U.S. Army ca. 1914. Also, the hand written ink caption on the front of the postcard does not match the original writing by Walter H. Horne himself [ca. 1914]. The ink caption in the front was done at a much later date.
