Groundwater Availability Model: Hill Country Portion of the Trinity Aquifer of Texas

Description: This report describes updates to the earlier developed groundwater availability model for the Hill Country portion of the Trinity Aquifer System, "by (1) adding the Lower Trinity Aquifer as another layer to the model, (2) revising the spatial distribution of parameters, such as recharge and pumping, and (3) calibrating the steady-state water level and river discharge conditions for 1980 and historical transient water level and discharge conditions for 1987 through 1997" (p. 1).

Groundwater-Surface Water Interaction in the Brazos River Basin: Evidence from Lake Connection History and Chemical and Isotopic Compositions

Description: This report describes study methods used in determining the sources of the water in oxbow lakes along the Brazos River, characteristics of the Brazos River and oxbow lakes, and the hydrogeologic setting that hydraulically connects the aquifer, river, and lakes.

Please Pass the Salt: Using Oil Fields for the Disposal of Concentrate from Desalination Plants

Description: The purpose of this report is to show that oil and gas fields can physically and chemically accept concentrate from desalination plants, and to recommend changes to statute and rules that would allow the disposal of concentrate in oil and gas fields.

Evaluation of Enhanced Recharge Potential to the Ogallala Aquifer in the Brazos River Basin, Hale County, Texas

Description: This study evaluates groundwater recharge from Soil Conservation Service (SCS) (currently the Natural Resources Conservation Service) reservoirs to determine whether recharge could be enhanced by increasing storage capacity or by modifying the bottom of the reservoirs.

Evaluation of Ground-Water Resources in Parts of Loving, Pecos, Reeves, Ward and Winkler Counties, Texas

Description: From Purpose: "This study in the area of Loving, Pecos, Reeves, Ward, and Winkler Counties was conducted to address the problems of overdraft and quality deterioration with respect to the Cenozoic Pecos Alluvium aquifer (previously referred to as the Cenozoic Alluvium aquifer), which is the primary aquifer in the area. A discussion of underlying aquifers is also included" (p. 1).
