Thickener and Means for Removing Settled Solids Therefrom.

Description: Patent for a machine which can automatically and continuously remove thickened material, which is a byproduct of wet milling ores. "The present device has been particularly designed to permit feed and discharge to be on the same level or for that matter the constant density discharge may be above or below the level of the feed stream, as may best fit the conditions of the particular installation" (lines 39-45).

Thickener (Sewage Type).

Description: Patent for sewage thickener that relies on sewage solids to sink to the bottom of the sewer and fall into the thickener, in which the thickener will press the solid sewage into a pulp. The pulp will be pressed at a predetermined density, and then the pressed pulp will float to the top of the sewage to be removed. The separation of liquid and solid sewage was predicted to prevent overflow.
